SB County Dems Announce Endorsement Meeting for Buellton Special Election
The Santa Barbara County Democratic Party is starting its endorsement process for the Buellton City Council District 4 Special Election on August 29, 2025. An early endorsement will be considered at the March 6, 2025 meeting in Buellton to support a Democratic campaign in a challenging environment. Interested candidates should contact the Endorsement Chair at endorsements@sbdems.org and submit a candidate questionnaire. The Party welcomes both new and experienced candidates to shape Buellton’s future.
Santa Barbara County Democratic Party Elects New Chair Following Special Election
The Santa Barbara County Democratic Party has chosen Christian Alonso as Chair after a special election on January 2, 2025, following the departure of Darcél Elliott after many years of dedicated service. Alonso will lead the Party's electoral strategy, engage volunteers, and uphold our Democratic values in the county. Formerly the Director of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood California Central Coast and President of the Santa Barbara Young Democrats, Alonso seeks to enhance outreach and inclusivity.
