“Because for Barack, success isn't about how much money you make, it's about the difference you make in people's lives.” -
Michelle Obama, Democratic National Convention, September 4th, 2012
Dear Dedicated Democrat,
I was honored to serve as a delegate to our Democratic National Convention last week, and I saw our party present a very different set of priorities than the
Republicans--priorities of standing up for the middle class, women, seniors, young people, and the LGBTQ community. The Republican vision of America is about acquiring wealth at all costs, while ours is about looking out for one another and making things better for our children and grandchildren.
We are up against a party that is light on principle but very heavy on funds. To be
successful in this election, we must beat back the moneyed attacks on our amazing local candidates. We've also got to beat Proposition 32- a deceptive measure that would keep the floodgates open for corporate money while eliminating the rights of working people to contribute to campaigns.
Many of you have already contributed to re-elect our President, Barack Obama. That's important. Please remember that the funds that Obama raises don’t "trickle down" to the local Democratic efforts- and we are the ones who contact the voters on the phones, at their doors, and in their mailboxes. We do that with donations from local Democrats like you.
Help make this election a success here on the Central Coast, and give what you can to help our efforts--$250, $100, $50 or whatever you can afford. You can also sign up to give a smaller amount monthly.
We've got less than 2 months to go--let's do this together.
Chair, Santa Barbara County Democratic Party
