Internship opportunities are now available with the Santa Barbara County Democratic Party. If you have an interest in political organizing and Democratic politics, and would like to contribute directly to the goals of the Democratic party, this is a great opportunity to participate on a local level. Santa Barbara County Democrats engage in municipal, county, statewide and national issues.

Internships with the Party will be organized along the following general tracks:

• Modern Campaign Technology—interns will gain training and experience in the use of online tools for organizing, including voter and constituent database management, internet organizing, political website construction and maintenance, and social networking for change.
• Election Campaign Planning—interns will gain training and experience in voter research, issue research, campaign planning and leading voter contact efforts for the November Santa Barbara Municipal elections (for Mayor and three open City Council seats).
• Causing the Change—gain experience mobilizing a constituency for policy change on issues that matter to you. Interns can shape their projects based on issues of their choice, and will receive guidance and support from the Party’s staff and leadership.

Interns will work with Party staff and leadership to devise a program along those general tracks tailored to their individual schedules and interests. Staff will assist students in gaining any available course credit for internship projects. Interns will have the opportunity to meet and work closely with leaders in the Democratic Party, elected officials, and candidates who will be shaping the future of our community.
