Healthcare Reform News/Action Today (September 15th, 2009 edition)

  • Health Care for America Now launched a new ad campaign today. The message? If the insurance companies win, you lose. They'll be doing national and DC television, plus print and online advertising targeted at Washington. Why so much beltway focus? To make sure lawmakers on Capitol Hill understand that there will be winners and losers in the health care debate and they have a choice to make between us and the insurance companies. Above is one of the TV ad to be aired. To view the rest of the TV ads, click here.
  • Health Care for America Now has got a lot planned in this vein for the near future. Sign up to join this campaign against the insurance industry here, and while you're at it, tell them about your insurance company so they can get your comments directly to them and to your Member of Congress.

  • Reform Bill Will Address GOP Fears - The chairman of the Senate Finance Committee said Monday that he will propose an overhaul of the nation's health-care system that addresses a host of GOP concerns, including blocking illegal immigrants from gaining access to subsidized insurance, urging limits on medical malpractice lawsuits and banning federal subsidies for abortion.

  • President’s Speech Allays Some Fears in the Health Insurance Industry - President Obama, who had recently stepped up his criticism of the insurance industry, seemed to soften his stance on Wednesday. But as he outlined his plans for health care, which focused mainly on a revamping of the nation’s insurance system, he was careful to point out that the executives who run those companies were not “bad people.”
