There will be a free concert reaffirming hope for world peace and celebrating life and universal humanity sponsored by the SB Sister Cities International at Casa De La Guerra, 415 E De La Guerra, starting at 4:30 p.m. Performers will include Foggy Dew, Bottom Line Brass, Shakuhachi and local musicians. The event will also include a celebrity MC and will be followed by a reception.

The September meetings for the Santa Barbara for Kucinich and Impeach Bush and Cheney groups will be Monday September 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 112 W. Cabrillo Blvd., Cabrillo Room, first floor. The keynote speaker at this month's meetup will be Dave Lindorff, co-author of THE CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT (with Barbara Olshansky), an amazingly popular and extremely readable book that explains the context while also setting forth six articles of impeachment against Bush, plus an extra section on Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, and Alberto Gonzales.

The Walter H. Capps Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion and Public Life will present Anne Hastings, speaking on "Eradicating Global Poverty: Is It Really Achievable?" Hastings is the Executive Director of Fonkoze, Haiti's largest microfinance institution. Dennis Kucinich will be at SBCC on Monday where he will speak briefly (about 15 min) starting at 9:45 and will then take questions from the audience.

Because school is in session and Monday mornings are extremely busy at SBCC, there will be no available parking for anyone who is not a student, faculty, or staff and tickets will be issued. We ask that anyone from outside SBCC please use public transportation or park in the
public, paid Harbor or Ledbetter parking lots.

At the September 6th meeting, the Party endorsed Brian Barnwell, Helene Schneider and Das Williams for the November 6th SB City Council race. There are still openings to represent the 3rd District and most members of the Party leadership need alternates.
