at 7:00 p.m. in Buellton is the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Democratic Central Committee. At the September 6th meeting, the Committee will finish interviews for candidates seeking endorsement for this November's SB City Council race and vote on endorsements. Congratulations to Barbie Deutsch and John Schnittker who were elected at last night's meeting to fill open positions representing the 2nd and 3rd Districts, respectively. There are still openings in the 3rd District and most members of the Committee need alternates.

Grassroots rally at City College on the West Campus Lawn, across from the Luria Library. Best estimate is that Obama's remarks will be around noon. Gates will open at 10:30 A.M.

This event is expected to be extrememly crowded. Please plan on using alternate transportation or carpooling to get on to the campus grounds.

People attending the rally who have tickets (and who have filled out the information section of the ticket) will be able to move into the rally area immediately upon arriving tomorrow.

The event will also include a celebrity MC and will be followed by a reception.

The September meetings for the Santa Barbara for Kucinich and Impeach Bush and Cheney groups will be Monday September 17th at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 112 W. Cabrillo Blvd., Cabrillo Room, first floor. The keynote speaker at this month's meetup will be Dave Lindorff, co-author of THE CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT (with Barbara Olshansky), an amazingly popular and extremely readable book that explains the context while also setting forth six articles of impeachment against Bush, plus an extra section on Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, and Alberto Gonzales.

public, paid Harbor or Ledbetter parking lots.
